Leaf Me Alone

"Leaf Me Alone"
4" x 7"
Watercolor on paper
I collect old linens and lace. This piece was a collar from a resale shop.  I knew it would probably not find a home as a collar again, what with the green needlework, so I bought it to use exactly as you see it here.

We're in a drought here in Illinois. Leaves are falling like it's autumn.  The pepper was garnish on a salad from the other day.  It seemed like a decent way to recycle an odd collection of items.

Ginkgo Moons

Crystaline images frozen in time is a series I've created using a non-traditional technique and a few tried and true ones.  These are not brand new, but you'll find them to be of interest, nonetheless.

Kathleen Conover is an artist who succeeded in utilizing the inclement Michigan winter to enhance her own capabilities. Sub-zero temperatures in particular, allowed her to develop her unique style.

When I learned that she froze watercolor paper, sloppy wet with paint, I looked at my deep freeze with renewed interest.  Over the next few days, I'll be exploring the ins and outs of what I've learned.

Ginkgo Leaves and Limestone

When the leaves landed on the pebbled beach, I liked the way it looked, but they blew away quickly.  There were no ginkgo leaves near the beach, but I have one next to my home, so I juxtaposed the indigenous leaves for something I could relate to.

The leaves are turning in my part of the country. The ginkgoes turn a terrific shade of gold when they are ready to leap to the ground, and these were some of the first to land.  I plan to do another ginkgo painting this fall.

This painting is listed with, and for sale through a Daily Paintworks Auction.  If you haven't checked out the web site, please do.  There are some interesting pieces being created on a small scale, in order to paint and post daily.
