Another Parrish

"Another Parrish"
6" x 8"
Oil on canvas panel
The sky and mountains intrigued me, as did the palm-like, yet deciduous tree. It was fun to think about painting this in Buffalo Grove, Illinois at Christmas time 2014, when the original was painted around a hundred years ago. This may be my last Parrish piece for a while, but I certainly enjoyed it.

Oh, and today's my birthday :-)

Eucalyptus Revisited

"Eucalyptus Revisited"
10" x 8"
Pastel on black canvas

I was compelled to tackle the eucalyptus tree I drew with graphite the other day in pastels. The colors were as appealing as the composition.

I like how the weeds in front lead us to the stream, which takes us back up to the tree and the crop behind it.

Neighborly

"Neighborly"

Pastel on paper
I had a tree, you had some rope and I tumbled for you the afternoon we constructed our swing. We soared and sang and laughed on that swing until you moved away.

I'm testing my abilities with pastel on paper.  Tonight's challenge was to make fine lines using thick sticks.  I seem to have done it.  I particularly enjoyed making the wire on the fence.
